Living Legacy of Faith
by Jack Graham Andre Bostove, a Russian novelist and former atheist, experienced salvation on a subway in Russia. What brought him to the end of himself were these words: “Without God, life makes no sense!” The newly converted Christian said, “I got off that subway and walked into God’s light.” You see, the salvation that we have in Christ is not taking a leap into darkness. Instead it’s jumping into the light—the light and love of Jesus Christ. You’re not an accident or mistake. Life is not arbitrary. Nothing in life is by chance. You were born to be a legacy of faith. If you can learn anything from God’s Word, let it be that life is not of chance, but it is the providence and creation of God. The creation of man occurred solely for the praise, purpose and pleasure of God. How can I really believe in creation according to the Bible so simply? Life lived in selfish pursuit of personal ambition is a dead end. But life lived in the pursuit of God for His praise, pleasure and purpose in our lives is an open, majestic avenue toward eternity with Him. Michael Denton, doctor and senior researcher in human molecular genetics at the University of Otago in New Zealand, wrote: “All the evidence available in the biological sciences supports the core proposition that the cosmos is a specially designed hole with life and mankind as its fundamental goal and purpose, a hole in which all facets of reality have their meaning and explanation in this central fact.” So, what is this scientist saying? Exactly what Genesis 1:1 says, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” You are significant. And God created you uniquely for Himself. To think that our God of wonders and creation stepped out of eternity and into our hearts is the most amazing fact of the universe. To think that this great God, by His grace and mercy, determined to bring us into a relationship with Him when we were sinners. Just as Joseph, Jacob, Isaac, Abraham and others walked with God in the Bible, that same God has promised to walk with us. Here are a few powerpoints on the living legacy of the Christian:
Martin Luther once said that God does not love us because we’re valuable, but we are valuable because God loves us. And we have been made for Him and by Him for His pleasure unto His praise as living legacies of faith.
